italy

in a land where time has stopped, i'm at work on a stone roof in a stone village, contemplating my entire life. it could easily be spent here looking at these mountains doing this work, living as an italian in italy.

Stowe Garden Festival

I was invited to build a balance sculpture in an hour for the garden fest folks hosted by Piecasso Pizzaria in Stowe Vermont. My two German friends who never met eachother prior to this day were both there to give me support as well as lots of local family. Such a great world.

Bonnaroo 2010

Traveling down to Manchester Tennessee early this year to work as a stone specialist on the floor of the post office there, leading a team of hippie kids in a mosaic, was one of many team building excercises i've participated in.. One thing i learned from this one was that if there are personalities i cant handle, its my issue and i need to make the effort to bridge that gap. i'm learning to take responsibility for my feelings and thoughts rather than allow them to rule me. I will probably be learnign that for a very long time.
After the post office floor was completed, my Vermont based team arrived and we went to work in two phases: the bicycle powered can house and the stone waterfall. We recycled and upcycled 40,ooo cans, did three on camera interviews, one music video and several thousand individual photographs of the can house. It was a great though rough experience involving, but not limited to threat of death in thunder storms, torrential rain, overflowing toilet detritus, mounted police, human feces, humidity at 100 degrees, gallons of water, red foot rash from pesticides, general fatigue and under nourishment, and lots and lots of music.

BOuldering BOulder

I had the chance of a life time to use 300 tons of stone in 3 weeks to create a well cistern for the house i worked on in Boulder last April. From the center bottom of the cistern, the stone stairs would rise and pass under a water fall and through caves into orchards on each side. Initially, we scrambled to get a full crew and permits and work around the tons of stone and other materials on site, but together with Isaac, daily and the Amigoes, we were able to pull off most of the concepts on the way into the project. Here are a few photos of the experience!
I fell in love with the place, and some poeple there, perhaps it was just the intensity of the magic or something in the air..
